What You’ll Need:

• Large plastic Easter eggs (the bigger the better!)

• Baking soda (lots of it!)

• Food coloring

• Water

• Small plastic dinosaurs

• Vinegar

• Droppers, squeeze bottles, or pipettes (a spoon works too!)

• A bowl and a spoon for mixing

The real magic happens when it’s time to dissolve the eggs! We filled small droppers with vinegar and let Pooh-Bear go to town squeezing tiny drops onto the eggs. The fizzing reaction was instant—lots of giggles, lots of bubbles, and slowly but surely the dinosaurs began to peek through!

Not only was this so much fun, but using the droppers is a fantastic way to sneak in some fine motor skill practice without any complaints. (Shhh… don’t tell the grandkids they’re actually learning something!)

,🦕 Try using different colored vinegar for even more colorful eruptions.

🦕 Add a little glitter to the baking soda mix for sparkly eggs.

🦕 Make it a game: who can “hatch” their dinosaur first?

This simple activity kept us entertained for an entire afternoon and turned into an impromptu science lesson too. Pooh-Bear asked to do it again, so, of course, we made two sets of eggs. Plus, we finally put those plastic eggs to good use!
